A sneak peek Behind the CV

This is a blog created with the intention to make you feel that you are not alone, to help you find solutions, and to make the change. As you may guess from the name of the blog "Behind the CV", the general theme is career & education, but what do the intentions of this blog actually mean? Let's have a sneak peek behind the CV:

The intention no. 1. "You are not alone."

When looking at someone else's CV, things often look quite straightforward. People have done their education, some several, continued from one job to another and possibly ended up in some nice position they now enjoy. The position you can just dream of and don't have any clue how to make it there. Well, this is rarely the case. Behind that someone else's CV there are possibly multiple tries, a bunch of emotions: doubting, disappointment, excitement, frustration..., and definitely not always a straight line. At least I can say this from my own experience and regardless of it being extremely frustrating, it often has its beauty in it too.

Another point for this intention is to bring up topics related to the working environment, teamwork- and leadership skills, challenges faced at work, and just being human living our lives while working/studying to open our eyes, find solutions, and make the change when required. So let's move on to our second intention, and talk about finding the solutions.

The intention no.2. "Find solutions."

When we are in a situation and when we have been there for a long time, it might be slightly hard to see what is wrong or right and what to change, while still feeling that everything is not alright. And this is what I wish to help with. To bring topics up that could spark thinking and discussions, which can finally lead to finding solutions. But I want to highlight that just thinking and discussing will not take things forward, it is the highly needed first step, but the decisions and actions are the ones that make the impact. I'm sure that so many of us have been in a situation where we have realized being in the wrong job and started discussing it with friends by complaining about it. Complaining can take the peak out of the "suffering", but at the end of the day, it will not change the situation. And this is what I want to target, to help you to think about what could be the solution and what possibly prevents you from making it happen.

Sometimes these solutions are related to yourself - maybe you are at a point in your life where your interests have changed and those don't align with your current career (which can obviously make you feel lost but don't worry too much - it will not be the forever feeling), and sometimes these solutions are related to dysfunctional factors at work. Which leads us to my final intention to make the change

The intention no.3. "Make the change."

Welcome to my biggest passion: Make the change. I have heard so many, so many stories (and also lived quite a few through by myself), about dysfunctional factors at work/school that make people literally suffer. I'm sure and happy about the fact that many things have already changed for the better in many places, but the funny fact is that change is constant and change requires more change. What I mean by this, is that as human beings we do change, our environment changes and so our needs change - and so could the work/education change to support these needs and further our wellbeing. I believe that small steps will lead to big changes and this is what we are doing here. We are taking small steps together to understand ourselves better and take responsibility for making the change happen.

So let's get started! Next time I'll tell you about my study/career -path, which has taken a few turns and lots of patience.

With kindness, Janika
